Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Q. What is the difficulty of the course?
A. Crane Field is a moderately difficult 6,352 yards from the black tees and 5,400 yards from the forward tees. We have average greens and fairways that range from forgiving to more exacting. The terrain is slightly undulating with with young trees, sand and grass bunkers, water hazards and native wetlands. It is heart and joint friendly for walkers, but long enough that the majority of people ride carts. It is categorized as a Modern American Parkland style, not a “links” style course.
Q. Can you explain to me the layout of your golf course?
A. Yes, Crane Field is a regulation sized 18-hole course. It is a Modern American Parkland style golf course, not a “links” style course. We have a par of 72. We are 6,352 yards from the black tees. We have an Ivory Homes residential neighborhood on the south perimeter of the course. But there are only a couple of houses bordering on the course so far. We have water hazards, sand and grass bunkers with trees and mounding in the rough. It is a fun and forgiving course. If you are a golfer with regular skills you will probably score well and not lose golf balls. We also have a great "driver length" 300 yd driving range with covered mats and grass hitting areas, and a practice green for putting and chipping.
Q. Can you suggest which nine (side) would be better for me to play today?
A. The back nine is slightly shorter than the front nine, and it is two seasons older so the turf is more established. It is typically considered more favorable by those with shorter drives. The front nine has is longer and has a couple back to back par 5's that can be taxing. It is typically considered more favorable by experienced golfers, and those with longer drives. Score averages are slightly higher on the front nine. On weekends, holidays and busy times you may not have a choice which side to play when playing nine holes, you will probably be sent out on the front nine.
Q. Do I need a Tee Time?
A. We recommend you schedule one. Especially Friday through Sunday. We allow walk-ons, but they sometimes have to wait a half an hour or more. Tee time reservations are also available online. Tee times may be reserved up to a week ahead of time. Tournaments can be booked out several weeks in advance.
